Gender-based violence (GBV) is a widespread and deeply entrenched issue that has a profound impact on individuals and communities across the globe. The significance of GBV awareness training cannot be overstated, as it plays a vital role in educating communities about the multifaceted nature of GBV, its far-reaching consequences, and the practical strategies for prevention and intervention. SSWU Women's Center ensures that women and girls are constantly informed about protecting themselves from GBVs.
GBV awareness training serves as a powerful tool for educating individuals about the various manifestations of GBV, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and human trafficking. SSWU educates women and girls by raising awareness about the signs and impacts of GBV equips individuals with the knowledge to recognize and respond to these issues effectively.
SSWU uses awareness to empowerment individuals to speak out against GBV and provide support to those affected. This training imparts the necessary knowledge and skills for safe and effective intervention, ultimately reducing GBV within communities.
GBV awareness training is a crucial link between individuals and the support services and resources available to survivors. SSWU ensures that individuals know where to seek help and how to offer meaningful support to those impacted by GBV fosters a culture of solidarity and assistance.
By providing comprehensive training, communities can work towards creating safe and inclusive environments that do not tolerate GBV in any form. This proactive approach promotes a culture of respect, equality, and healthy relationships, thereby reducing the prevalence of violence within communities.
The overwhelming majority South Sudanese, about 82% of the population endure poverty, surviving on less than $1.90 per day with nearly 80% residing in rural areas.
48.6 per cent of all households in South Sudan are headed by female who experience poverty due to detrimental social norms, and limited access to education, productive assets and resources.
To address this problem, a women-led organization, SSWU has committed itself to poverty eradication among marginalized women and girls in various communities of South Sudan.
We work with poor women who are survivors of war and sexual gender-based violence by providing relevant skills development and support to help them transform their lives. We also advocate for conducive and enabling environment for women to actively participate in social, economic and political development in South Sudan. Our creed is, no woman should be left to suffer.
